One tap. In the menu editor, every item card has a Sold out switch — flip it and the dish immediately shows as sold out on diners' phones and can't be added to carts. Flip it back when you restock. No republish, no page reload for the diner.
Sold out (the 86 switch)
Use this mid-service when something runs out:
- Open your menu in the console.
- Find the item — the Sold out switch is right on the card.
- Tap it. The switch turns red, and the dish greys out on the diner menu instantly.
The dish stays visible to diners (so they know you normally have it) — it just can't be ordered. When the kitchen restocks, tap the switch again and it's back on sale.
Listed / unlisted (removing an item entirely)
For seasonal dishes or items you want off the menu completely, open the item's editor and use the Listed toggle. An unlisted item disappears from the diner menu altogether — no greyed-out card, just gone — while keeping its photo, price and modifiers saved for when you bring it back.
Quick guide:
- Sold out — ran out today, back soon. Visible but not orderable.
- Unlisted — off the menu for now. Invisible to diners.
Modifier options too
Individual modifier options (say, one add-on out of five) can also be switched off from the item's modifier settings — the rest of the group keeps working.
What diners see
If a dish sells out after someone already ordered it, cancel that item from the live order queue with the "Sold out" reason — the diner sees a polite note on their order page and, for paid items, a refund follows. See How do I handle cancellations and refunds?
